Chapter 135: Pushing Too Far

Ning Xiaochuan walked back from the Heavenly Bridge, and Jin Quexi and Yue Mingsong from the Tianli Society immediately approached him, inviting him to visit their faction. Ning Xin'er and Murong Wushuang also accompanied Ning Xiaochuan to the Tianli Society, while Yu Qianqian had other matters to attend to and left beforehand, not joining them.

In the distance, atop a tower, stood five second-term disciples clad in white robes, gazing toward the Heavenly Bridge.

"Ning Xiaochuan has passed the third level," Situ Mingyu remarked.

"Ning Xiaochuan's talent must have already reached the 'Once-in-a-Century' level. This is truly unexpected. No wonder Father ordered me to eliminate him at all costs," Ning Xiaojian said, his killing intent growing fiercer, further solidifying his resolve to remove Ning Xiaochuan.

The three other young elites from the Jian Pavilion Marquis House also exuded a chilling murderous aura, their swords trembling on their backs, emitting faint hums.

"However, Jin Quexi from the Tianli Society seems to be trying to recruit him. Her martial prowess is already considered top-tier among the second-term disciples. Killing Ning Xiaochuan in front of her won’t be easy," Situ Mingyu added.

Ning Xiaojian sneered. "In my opinion, Jin Quexi isn’t much of a threat. Yue Mingsong and Shi Hailiang are merely mediocre. The real danger is Zhuo Yufan, the leader of the Tianli Society. If Ning Xiaochuan truly joins them, we’ll have to think twice before acting against him."

At the mention of Zhuo Yufan’s name, the expressions of the other three Jian Pavilion Marquis House prodigies shifted slightly.

Situ Mingyu chuckled. "Though Zhuo Yufan’s cultivation is formidable, he may not dare to offend the Cloud Marquis. Cousin, don’t forget—Ning Xiaochuan killed Yao Jindao, the Cloud Marquis’s eighth disciple. The Marquis’s other disciples have already vowed to take Ning Xiaochuan’s life. These men are ruthless. Would Zhuo Yufan really risk provoking the Cloud Marquis for Ning Xiaochuan’s sake?"

Ning Xiaojian stroked his chin, a sinister glint flashing in his eyes. "A fair point. Ning Yi, go to the Hun Tian Tower in the southern city now and inform Lu Huntian, the sixth disciple of the Cloud Marquis, of Ning Xiaochuan’s whereabouts. Let’s sit back and enjoy the show. Hahaha!"

The headquarters of the Tianli Society was located within a Fourth-Level Mansion in the Emperor’s City.

The mansion was grand and carried an ancient aura, its origins lost to time. Spanning 33 hectares, only members of the Tianli Society were permitted entry.

Yue Mingsong smiled warmly. "Xiaochuan, did the white-robed figure on the Heavenly Bridge tell you your talent level? It must have reached 'Once-in-a-Century,' right?"

Ning Xiaochuan nodded with a smile.

Jin Quexi and Shi Hailiang, walking behind them, exchanged glances, their eyes filled with astonishment. Though they had anticipated Ning Xiaochuan might reach that level, hearing him confirm it firsthand made the shock even more profound.

Once-in-a-Century—a genius born only once every hundred years.

His future achievements would undoubtedly be extraordinary.

As they entered the Tianli Society, someone came forward to greet them.

Nie Hai was the vice president of the Tianli Society and one of the top second-term disciples. Five years ago, during the Opening Battle, he had secured seventh place, surpassing even Ning Xiaojian, the top genius of the Jian Pavilion Marquis House.

Murong Wushuang gasped in shock, "One of the Imperial City's Ten Outstanding Youths—Nie Hai! Heavens, am I seeing this right? Are you really Nie Hai?"

The "Imperial City's Ten Outstanding Youths" were hailed as the ten strongest individuals of the younger generation in the Imperial City, each a prodigious figure whose martial prowess had already surpassed many older experts despite their youth.

Compared to newcomers like Ning Xiaochuan and Ming Yang, the reputation of the Imperial City's Ten Outstanding Youths was far more illustrious.

For Ning Xin'er and Murong Wushuang, these ten had been their lifelong role models. Meeting one in person left them exhilarated.

Nie Hai, only in his early twenties, had thick eyebrows, a sharp nose, and a strikingly handsome appearance. He smiled and said, "The Imperial City's Ten Outstanding Youths—just an empty title. In a few years, the name Ning Xiaochuan will surely outshine all ten of us combined. Little Brother Ning, would you be interested in joining our Tianli Society?"

Ning Xiaochuan chuckled, "With outstanding individuals like Brother Nie leading the Tianli Society, joining would naturally be an honor I couldn’t refuse."

Nie Hai’s face lit up with delight, and he was about to invite Ning Xiaochuan into the inner hall when— Boom!

The vermilion gates of the Tianli Society were shattered by a single punch, splintering into broken planks that clattered to the ground.

"Audacious! Who dares cause trouble at the Tianli Society?" Four martial experts from the society immediately struck, unleashing divine techniques that formed four fiery serpents over 10 meters long, blasting toward the entrance.

"Scram!"

A thunderous roar echoed from outside as a massive palm imprint struck, sending the four experts flying back into the courtyard, blood spurting from their mouths as they crashed to the ground.

A burly man with bronze skin strode in, each step leaving deep footprints in the stone floor. His cold gaze swept across everyone in the courtyard as he sneered, "Who is Ning Xiaochuan? Come out and die!"

Ning Xiaochuan frowned, certain he had never seen this man before.

Nie Hai’s expression darkened, a chilling Cold Qi radiating from his body and filling the entire courtyard. His voice was icy as he said, "Lu Huntian, if you want to act like a madman, go elsewhere. Coming to the Tianli Society to stir trouble—you’ve chosen the wrong place. If you don’t give me a reasonable explanation today, don’t expect to leave unscathed."

Lu Huntian scoffed, "Nie Hai, this matter is beyond you. Stay out of it. Ning Xiaochuan killed my eighth junior brother. Today, he must die—no one can save him."

Ning Xiaochuan finally understood the man’s origins and sneered, "The academy’s trials are brutal—kill or be killed. Yao Jindao died by my hand because he was weak. He deserved it."

Lu Huntian burst into laughter. "Oh? Then let’s have a match ourselves and see who’s truly weak!"

Yue Mingsong chuckled mockingly, "Aren’t you ashamed of embarrassing the Cloud Marquis? You’re a second-term disciple, yet you’re challenging a freshman. How impressive!"

Jin Quexi said, "Lu Huntian, killing is forbidden in the Emperor's City. Do you not fear punishment from the academy for trying to kill Ning Xiaochuan?"

Lu Huntian laughed without restraint. "This is a personal vendetta between Ning Xiaochuan and me. The academy has no say in this. Ning Xiaochuan, prepare to die!"

His right arm turned crimson, sharp claws sprouting from his fingertips as his palm transformed into the claws of a mystic beast. With a single strike to the ground, he created a 3-meter-long giant palm print crater, shattering the stone slabs into fragments.

A powerful force surged from the ground toward Ning Xiaochuan.

Ning Xiaochuan unfurled a pair of wings on his back and soared into the air. The spot where he had stood erupted with a pillar of Profound Qi, leaving behind a bottomless pit.

"Lu Huntian, you are far too arrogant!" Jin Quexi drew a blue Mystic Artifact ancient sword, a peacock phantom manifesting along its blade.

"Whoosh!"

The ancient sword shot through the air, aiming straight for Lu Huntian's brow.

Lu Huntian sneered coldly, conjuring a golden barrier around himself that deflected Jin Quexi's strike.

"Boom!"

The golden light condensed into a massive palm imprint, slamming against the sword and forcing Jin Quexi back.

Lu Huntian, one of the top second-term disciples, strode toward Ning Xiaochuan with a chilling smile. "Ning Xiaochuan, opposing the Cloud Marquis House will only lead to your death."

Nie Hai could no longer stand by. His body turned into a streak of white light, moving so fast it was nearly imperceptible. With a single palm strike to Lu Huntian's chest, he sent Lu Huntian flying back 60 meters, crashing into a wall and leaving behind a web of cracks.

Nie Hai stood where Lu Huntian had been, his voice low and firm. "Ning Xiaochuan is now under the protection of the Tianli Society. Even as a disciple of the Cloud Marquis, you must abide by our rules. You do not dictate terms here."

"Hah! Nie Hai, you continue to impress me. Do you truly hold no regard for the Marquis?"

From outside the gates, dozens of white-robed warriors entered. At their forefront stood a tall, lean man twirling a golden gleaming dagger in his hand.

The lean man scraped the dagger against his chin, a faint smile on his face.

Lu Huntian's face lit up with relief at the sight of him. He bowed deeply. "Fourth Senior Brother!"

Zhang Linshan, the fourth disciple of the Cloud Marquis, spoke in a mocking tone. "Sixth Brother, being bullied and not even making a sound? Are we of the Cloud Marquis House to be trampled upon?"

Murong Wushuang seethed with anger. "The Cloud Marquis House truly excels at twisting right and wrong. Admirable, truly admirable!"

Zhang Linshan's gaze turned icy as he flicked his wrist. From dozens of meters away, he struck Murong Wushuang across the face, sending him flying into a pillar with a pained cry. He collapsed to the ground, coughing up blood.

Ning Xiaochuan rushed to support him. "Are you alright?"

Murong Wushuang clenched his teeth, one side of his face swollen. He shook his head weakly. "I... I'm fine—ugh!"

As he spoke, another mouthful of blood spilled from his lips.

Ning Xiaochuan clenched his fists tightly, his face filled with fury. "This is utterly despicable! They’ve gone too far!"

Murong Wushuang gripped Ning Xiaochuan’s arm firmly and shook his head. "Don’t. They are seniors of the Heaven and Earth Academy. Right now, we’re no match for them. Fighting them recklessly will only bring us harm."

Though Ning Xiaochuan was usually calm, he could not tolerate anyone harming his friends or family. "Don’t worry, I know my limits."

His gaze fixed on Zhang Linshan and Lu Huntian as he sneered coldly. "So, you want to avenge Yao Jindao? Fine! If you have the guts, face me one-on-one. If I die by your hand, I’ll blame only my lack of skill. But if you die by mine—then blame your own misfortune. Who’s first?"
