The eerie footsteps grew increasingly distinct.
A headless monk emerged from the mist, clad in gray robes, his palms pressed together in prayer, his feet shackled with iron chains. With each step, the chains clanked, producing a metallic clatter. Though his neck bore no head, a low chanting emanated from within his body, suffusing the air with Buddhist light. Every inch of his skin shimmered with golden radiance.
