Chapter 126: Cursed Snake Tongue, Instance Starting Point
Clicking sound...
Miss Xu's head was twisted 360 degrees, the sound of her throat bones snapping eerily clear.
The Mirror Supernatural Woman had intended this as a warning to others.
Yet the pity in the other's eyes left her confused, even inexplicably uneasy.
"Having fun, little girl?"
Before the Mirror Supernatural Woman could react, the face twisted backward to the spine suddenly opened its mouth and smiled at her.
As the Mirror Supernatural Woman's pallid features froze in shock, Xu Xin's slender fingers pressed against her chin and flicked upward lightly.
Her head came off like a detached ornament.
"Now that playtime's over, it's big sister's turn."
"Let's play a game. The rules are simple—we stare at each other. Whoever blinks first loses. How about it?"
As she spoke, Miss Xu slowly stood up, cradling the Mirror Supernatural Woman's head and bringing it face-to-face with her own.
As their eyes met, the lifeless pupils in Miss Xu's eyes suddenly flickered with an eerie light.
Like glue, the Mirror Supernatural Woman—who had been struggling in terror—suddenly stilled, her gaze deeply entranced.
All her attention and consciousness seemed to sink into Miss Xu's eyes...
"Ah—!!!"
The next instant, the Mirror Supernatural Woman let out a piercing shriek, as if she had seen something utterly horrifying.
Her entire pale face twisted in terror.
Then... thick green smoke poured from all seven orifices, and she was gone—just like that.
"Tsk, you lost."
Miss Xu smiled faintly and casually tossed the head aside, leisurely twisting her neck back into place.
Ji Yan's lips twitched.
What the hell was in Miss Xu's eyes?
To scare a supernatural entity to death?!
Once her head was back in position, Miss Xu arched a brow.
At the very back, another entity—the Bald Supernatural—had been crawling out of the mirror, just like the Mirror Supernatural Woman.
But halfway out, it witnessed Xu Xin "liberating" the Mirror Supernatural Woman through a staring contest...
Instantly, the murky eyes of the Bald Supernatural cleared slightly. Half its body stuck in the mirror, it couldn't retreat or advance, frozen in awkward hesitation.
When Xu Xin's gaze drifted toward it, the Bald Supernatural forced a stiff smile.
"Uh... my bad."
"I'll just... crawl back in..."
After this cowardly retreat, it silently slipped back into the mirror, though its stuck lower half struggled so desperately that tears welled in its eyes.
In the other dark corners, the lurking supernatural entities who had witnessed Miss Xu's performance became far more subdued.
This was no mere hospital nurse—she was a full-fledged demoness!
But there's always one who refuses to learn.
The door rapidly decayed, cracks spreading visibly across the wall as a desiccated corpse squeezed out.
Its pitch-black eyes fixed on Xu Xin, the layers of wrinkles on its face relaxing slightly as it spoke in a kindly tone:
"Little nurse, we're only after this young man. There's no need for you to get involved."
"These are the Hospital Director's orders. Don’t you want to survive in this hospital? Can you really stop all these patients and doctors by yourself?"
Xu Xin glanced at it. "I was just playing around at first."
"But now that you've said that, I feel like being rebellious."
"Tch, if you insist on refusing a toast only to drink a forfeit, so be it..."
The Desiccated Corpse shook its head as if regretful, but its kindly expression instantly twisted into something vicious.
It opened its mouth, revealing a pitch-black tongue.
Forked like a serpent's, the tongue split down the middle, a dark curse mark flickering on its surface!
A terrifying supernatural curse filled the room.
"Hmm?"
Xu Xin glanced at the curse mark on the tongue and immediately sensed something wrong.
Her right eyeball slipped from its socket, falling to the ground and dissolving into pus...
Tilting her head, she turned to Ji Yan and said, "Close your eyes."
She didn’t need to tell him—Ji Yan had already shut them tight.
The moment the Desiccated Corpse appeared, [Omniscient Understanding] had warned him that this Supernatural Patient carried a horrifying curse, one that could use any visual contact as a "medium" to invade its target with the "Curse."
As for what kind of damage the curse inflicted? Unknown.
The mechanics of such things in the Supernatural Game were always varied.
But the Desiccated Corpse was wearing the [Emergency Building] patient gown.
Clearly, this was a serious threat!
Soon, eerie sounds reached his ears—violent collisions, the tearing of flesh...
A sense of unease gripped Ji Yan’s heart.
He didn’t know if Xu Xin could handle it. Just as he was considering his next move, a familiar voice spoke beside him.
"Done. Open your eyes."
"Got a gift for you."
The moment Ji Yan opened his eyes, he was met with Xu Xin’s blood-smeared face.
Her remaining left eye stared at him as she held out a gory object, its metallic stench overwhelming.
"This is..."
"That thing’s tongue."
"..."
Ji Yan turned his head.
Behind them, half of the Desiccated Corpse’s body was still embedded in the wall, but its lower jaw had been torn open, leaving a mangled mess—utterly lifeless.
Damn, can this woman get any more brutal?
A Supernatural from the [Emergency Building], just wiped out like that!
"Disgusted?"
"Body parts carrying curses are treasures for people like you."
"Otherwise, I’d have given it to the Paper Figure. That little thing eats anything, but it loves curses the most."
Beside them, the Blood-Stained Paper Figure danced excitedly, tugging at Xu Xin’s sleeve like a starving child begging for milk...
"Ah... how could I possibly refuse?"
Ji Yan’s tone was bashful, but his hands moved swiftly, snatching the bloody tongue.
Ding! Congratulations, Player, for obtaining the Instance’s hidden reward—[Tongue of the Tongue-Curse Supernatural], quality: [Legendary].
You have accumulated one [Curse]—[Visual Pollution].
(When activated, this curse will inflict severe neural pollution on the target’s vision for 3 minutes. Cooldown: 20 minutes.)
Immediately, in the Toolbar’s categorized list, the Curse section gained a new entry—a forked serpentine curse mark.
"To think I’d get a free curse reward like this..."
Ji Yan pressed his lips together, struggling to suppress the smirk threatening to form.
Because he could see the Blood-Stained Paper Figure letting go of Xu Xin’s sleeve, glaring at him with murderous intent...
"Planning to stay here forever?"
"You’re not expecting me to take out every patient and doctor, are you?"
Xu Xin wiped the blood from her face as she questioned Ji Yan.
Just as he was about to respond, another Supernatural emerged from the mirror behind her.
Before it could even act, Xu Xin reached out and crushed it, her gaze still fixed on Ji Yan. "Keep talking."
Yet, despite being crushed, the Supernatural’s voice still echoed:
"Goat Doctor... we just want to stay in this Instance. Give us a way out."
"You can die and move on to the next instance, continue your path."
"Why be so stubborn and waste everyone's energy?"
This was the Dragon Player's voice.
Clearly, he had plundered some Zodiac's Wish Privilege, his consciousness replacing that of a Supernatural Entity patient.
Ji Yan chuckled and retorted, "Why don't you die instead, go to some scrapped, abandoned instance, and start over?"
The Dragon Player wanted to respond, but Miss Xu crushed his head with a slap, glancing indifferently at Ji Yan. "Why waste so many words on him?"
Yet, a second Supernatural Entity, controlled by the Dragon Player, barged into the room.
The Dragon Player glared coldly and suspiciously at Xu Xin. "What the hell are you?"
"Why can you defy the Hospital Director's orders without suffering the Instance Order's Punishment?!"
"Annoying as flies."
Xu Xin didn’t bother explaining. With a flick of her hand, the Supernatural Entity's head exploded.
Meanwhile.
Having his plans repeatedly disrupted by Xu Xin, the Dragon Player was seething.
"That damn nurse!"
He grabbed a walkie-talkie. "The Goat’s hiding in the storage room on the 4th floor. Are you there yet?"
A voice crackled back: "Three minutes."
"Watch out for that nurse—she’s insane, doesn’t play by the rules!"
Both the Dragon and Tiger Players were baffled.
Xu Xin didn’t feel like some mindless Supernatural Entity to them. She seemed more like a free agent, unbound by the Instance Order.
"Can she even defy the heavens?"
"Maybe the instance glitched when setting up this Ghostly Nurse, making her so abnormal."
"Relax. Once I dig them out, I’ll crush that Ghostly Nurse’s head first!"
The Tiger Player was fuming.
If not for that absurd Ghostly Nurse interfering, the Sheepskin Scroll would’ve been theirs by now!
Inside the storage room.
Xu Xin sensed something and spoke up. "The Hospital Director’s coming."
Ji Yan cautiously suggested, "How about you take out the Supernatural Hospital Director while you’re at it?"
"That’d definitely break the Main Plot."
"The Instance Order would have to patch the loophole, reset the Main Plot, and start everything over. Those Dragon and Tiger guys would lose their minds!"
Xu Xin yawned. "Can’t beat him."
"The Hospital Director’s invincible in this instance—only the rules can punish him. No one can kill him inside the Undead Hospital."
"If he shows up, I’m out. You’re on your own."
With that, Xu Xin stood to leave.
Ji Yan had only asked out of curiosity, never seriously expecting her to take down the Supernatural Hospital Director.
He got up, dusting himself off. "Miss Xu, one last favor."
"Take me somewhere."
"I can help you escape, but you’ll have to hide inside me."
Compared to being swallowed again, Ji Yan had no hesitation choosing this over facing the Tiger Player’s hunt. He nodded firmly.
Xu Xin rolled up her sleeves. "Where to?"
Ji Yan’s eyes gleamed as he whispered, "The very beginning of the instance."
"The Zodiac Maternity Ward."
