Chapter 132: Heartless and Fully Prepared
Confinement Room.
Endless darkness, with only a single beam of light falling on a chair.
Ji Yan pulled the chair and sat down calmly.
Something seemed to be moving in the surrounding shadows.
A sticky, slithering sound was clearly audible in his ears.
As Ji Yan focused on his surroundings, he felt a weight settle on his shoulder.
Glancing sideways, he vaguely saw a severely decayed hand, its skin resembling fried bean curd, resting on his right shoulder. A voice, torn and distorted, whispered in his ear:
"How long has it been since we had a guest in the Confinement Room?"
"Not many get sent here by the Old Man. Let me guess—you must’ve done something truly unforgivable, right?"
Ignoring the foul stench, Ji Yan responded to the voice behind his head.
"Just accidentally smashed the Black Coffin on the first floor, along with the apartment’s foundation."
"The Old Man’s precious Black Coffin? It’s a miracle you’re still alive!"
"Now then, what are you afraid of?"
"Let me take a look."
As the voice spoke, the rotting Supernatural hand groped toward Ji Yan’s chest, preparing to seize his heart…
But the next moment, the entity in the darkness froze.
"Wait… why is it empty? Where’s your heart?!"
Feeling the hands frantically searching his body in disbelief, Ji Yan replied calmly, "I find the heart too precious. I usually prefer not to carry it around when I go out."
Knowing he’d be confined, Ji Yan had already prepared for the Confinement Room.
He’d learned everything about it—what lurked inside, what the Punishment entailed—from Xu Xin.
What puzzled him, though, was why Xu Xin had information about the Confinement Room to begin with.
The Supernatural Resident inside was a Heart Nightmare Entity, capable of extracting a person’s heart and infinitely amplifying their most terrifying memories, even materializing them into reality.
This entity was similar to the Father Supernatural Entity, the Nightmare Devourer, from before—except one fed on fear, while the other magnified it.
So, without a heart, could he exploit a loophole?
Coincidentally, Ji Yan, armed with the Other Shore Scalpel, had performed a self-administered heart removal surgery and entrusted his heart to Miss Xu for safekeeping.
As for why he’d trust a Supernatural Entity with his heart, Ji Yan couldn’t explain—it was purely instinct.
If Miss Xu had wanted to harm him, she’d had plenty of opportunities before.
This likely had something to do with the "bet" she’d mentioned.
A bet with whom? He didn’t know.
But it seemed that as long as he survived, she would win.
Just as Ji Yan had guessed, without a heart, the Supernatural Resident’s ability couldn’t be triggered.
Bound by the rules of the Confinement Room, the entity in the darkness stared at Ji Yan like… a delicious treat just out of reach, held back by chains, unable to take a bite.
Craving, yet unable to devour!
Confirming this, Ji Yan took a deep breath and slowly closed his eyes.
Now, all that was left was to wait.
Though he couldn’t help but wonder—how were things at the Undead Hospital right now?
Given the Dragon Player’s cautious nature, they’d probably discovered his "little lie" by now…
Instance: Undead Hospital, late-night shift.
The dimly lit hall of the Emergency Building was unusually lively.
One after another, Supernatural Shadows emerged in every corner, their bizarre and varied gazes locking onto each other, all exuding a chilling hostility. Yet, they were uniformly clad in white coats, with Chief Doctor work IDs hanging from their chests. Above those white coats sat the heads of different animals.
Eleven Supernatural Doctors had appeared in the hall simultaneously!
This sight was exceedingly rare—not only because the Zodiacs were natural rivals locked in deadly competition, but also because each managed their own separate zones. For all of them to gather here, there was only one reason: the Supernatural Hospital Director had issued an emergency summons!
As for why there were only eleven, naturally, the Goat Supernatural Doctor had been eliminated by Ji Yan.
Among the twelve Zodiacs, only the [Goat] had a unique storyline setting. For a player to be promoted to Chief Doctor, they had to kill the Goat Supernatural Doctor.
This was why the other Zodiac Supernatural Doctors could coexist peacefully with their respective players—only the Goat Supernatural Doctor was hellbent on devouring players!
A new Goat Supernatural Doctor would only respawn when a new player was born.
But over in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department...
The Mother Goat remained in prolonged labor, her belly swollen, yet no new player was being birthed.
On the surface, this seemed like just an unusual circumstance.
But the Dragon Player couldn’t shake his unease.
He feared Ji Yan too much!
As long as no new player of the Zodiac [Goat] entered the Instance, this thorn in his throat would never be dislodged.
But time was slipping away, and the urgency was overwhelming. If they didn’t execute their plan soon, the Tiger Player would lose his patience.
Soon, the Tiger Player, using the Soul Substitution of the Supernatural Hospital Director, arrived. The moment he appeared, all the Zodiac Supernatural Doctors turned their attention to him.
For all twelve Supernatural Doctors to gather like this, there had to be an urgent and critical mission to announce. The last time such a summons had occurred was over a hundred days ago.
Quickly, leveraging the Supernatural Hospital Director’s Privilege, the Tiger Player relayed the mission to the eleven Zodiac Supernatural Doctors.
"Fatal Infection, spreading uncontrollably. All medical staff must clear out all patients from the wards within 24 hours?!"
The Zodiac Supernatural Doctors were stunned.
Clear out—all patients?!
"Director, what kind of infection could possibly affect every single patient?" the Tiger Supernatural Doctor frowned.
"And my patients don’t seem to show any abnormalities," the Rat Supernatural Doctor murmured.
Clearing out patients was a massive operation!
Moreover, many of the patients were highly troublesome—especially those in the Emergency Building. Even some of the Zodiac Supernatural Doctors feared them.
"An invisible Fatal Infection."
"While it’s still under control, we must act immediately to eradicate it."
"If it spirals out of control, the entire hospital will fall. Patients can be replaced, but if the hospital is lost, it’s gone for good."
The Tiger Player lowered his voice. "This is the directive of the Rules—and my order. Rest assured, the Rules constrain the patients. Proceed with the clearance without hesitation. I will take responsibility for any consequences!"
From the shadows, the Rabbit Supernatural Doctor’s stitched-up rabbit head twitched, its crimson eyeballs flickering. "Then... when do we begin?"
"Now!"
"Before dawn, all patients must be cleared out and transported to the Morgue. The Tree of Creation will handle the disposal."
"Each doctor is to brief their respective medical teams."
"Tell them this: The hospital is sick. The patients are the source of infection—and we, the medical staff, are the only cure!"
With the emergency notice delivered, the Tiger Player turned and left. He was confident. As long as the orders came from the Supernatural Hospital Director, these Supernatural Entity NPCs would obey without question.
They were like oxen led by the nose, going wherever they were pointed!
In the hall, the eleven Supernatural Doctors exchanged silent glances.
The Tiger Player retreated from the hall into a hidden passage.
A smirk curled his lips: "Now, we just wait for this Instance to descend into utter chaos!"
Once the Supernatural Doctors ordered all Medical Staff to purge the Supernatural Patients, a massive battle would erupt across the entire Instance.
From the Supernatural Doctors at the top to all the Medical Staff below, even the Supernatural Patients—everyone would violate the rules!
When the Order Review discovered that the entire Instance was in rampant violation and beyond salvation, it would abandon the Instance, labeling it an [Abandoned Instance] to house eliminated players.
Thus, they would successfully deceive the Instance Order.
This was their ultimate lie!
To trick the Order, abandon the Instance, and then use the [Lies Parchment] to activate their Privilege, seizing complete control over the identity of the [Supernatural Hospital Director] and placing it firmly in their grasp.
Everything was ready—all they needed now was the final push!
The Dragon Player had to write the lie on the parchment in advance, prophesying the impending events.
Having completed his part, the Tiger Player eagerly sought out the Dragon Player.
But what he didn’t know was…
At this very moment, inside the Operating Room…
The Dragon Player clutched the tattered parchment in hand, pupils shrinking bit by bit.
As if they had stumbled upon something utterly horrifying…
