Chapter 45: Variety Show Debut
Wu Lei burst out laughing at her actions and asked, "If you're not wearing makeup, why are you rubbing makeup remover on your face?"
"Didn't you tell me to remove my makeup, Teacher Wu?" An Wen was confused by his laughter.
"You still have foam on your face. Hurry up and wash it off," Wu Lei said, barely holding back his amusement.
An Wen obediently rinsed the foam from her face. Her eyebrows and the hair at her temples were damp, but after washing, her skin looked even more radiant and dewy. Her wet eyelashes framed her sparkling eyes, giving her a pure and beautiful appearance.
Wu Lei couldn’t help but marvel, "Your skin is really amazing. I thought you were wearing makeup."
Hearing his praise, An Wen smiled slightly and said, "Maybe it’s because I don’t stay up late much."
Wu Lei chuckled and turned to the camera, saying, "Did you hear that, audience? Not staying up late might just give you skin like An Wen’s!"
After chatting a bit more with An Wen, Wu Lei headed to the studio.
The recording began as Wu Lei and the four male hosts stood up. Wu Lei announced, "This program is sponsored by Tumei App—if you want to be beautiful, use Tumei! Hello everyone, we are the Heartbeat Princes!"
The four male hosts struck the Heartbeat Prince pose, and Wu Lei gestured for them to sit. "Alright, let’s settle in and talk."
The five of them took their seats on the couches, with Wu Lei in the center and the four male hosts flanking him, two on each side.
"We’re now on the eighth episode of the show, and so far, the one with the most Heartbeat Medals is our very own Li Yuebin—Binbin!"
Everyone applauded.
"Let me tell you, today’s princess is a stunning beauty, one that’s going to get all of you excited," Wu Lei said.
The four male hosts immediately perked up. Zuo Shaoyuan said enviously, "Teacher Wu always gets to see the princess before we do every episode."
"And he even gets to watch her remove her makeup," Xu Liangxuan added.
Wu Lei caught their drift and teased, "So what you’re really saying is you just want to see the princess remove her makeup, right?"
The four male hosts burst into laughter.
"Alright, now let’s take a look at the clues today’s princess has provided for us," Wu Lei said, directing everyone’s attention to the screen on the wall.
A photo of a little girl appeared on the screen, dressed in a white princess dress and sitting obediently on a swing.
"It’s a childhood photo. Can you guess who this is?" Wu Lei asked.
"You can tell she was already very delicate and pretty even as a child," Li Yuebin remarked.
"Her aura is so lovely too, like an angel. She definitely had the vibe of a child star," Yang Ziming added.
Zuo Shaoyuan stared at the photo for a long time before suddenly letting out a scream, covering his mouth in shock. "It’s not her, is it? Did they really invite her?"
His outburst startled everyone, especially Yang Ziming beside him, who jumped in surprise. "What’s wrong with you?"
Zuo Shaoyuan turned to Yang Ziming, trembling with excitement. "Look closely at her face—doesn’t she look like her? And that aura!"
Yang Ziming studied the photo again before suddenly gasping in realization. "Oh my god, really? It does! It really does!"
The other two male hosts across from them were completely lost. "Who are you two talking about?"
But the two were already beyond control, especially Zuo Shaoyuan, who clutched a pillow, his face alight with excitement.
"Now let's have a remote conversation with the princess and ask her to give us another hint," Wu Lei said.
Everyone turned their attention to the screen again, hearing a soft and pleasant female voice say, "I've acted with Zuo Shaoyuan before."
