Chapter 31: Lu Man'er Loses Her Temper

Chapter 31: Lu Man'er Loses Her Temper

"Are you sure you won't reconsider?" Tang Zhiming asked her.

He had watched An Wen's performance so far. Playing Li Qingyi would be no problem for her, but taking on the complex layers of Lin Wanting was another matter entirely. He could directly cast her as Li Qingyi, but for Lin Wanting, she would have to audition.

Tang Zhiming's productions were highly sought after by actors. When the auditions came around, it wouldn’t just be popular young actresses vying for roles—seasoned performers from all over would show up.

Lin Wanting was a character who started off innocent and naive but later transformed into a major antagonist. Aside from the male and female leads, she was the most striking role in the drama, and competition for it would be fierce.

"Director Tang, I’ve made up my mind!" An Wen's eyes sparkled with determination, her entire demeanor radiating energy. "When the time comes, I hope you’ll save a spot for me in the auditions."

"Good! Hahaha…" Tang Zhiming laughed. His apprentice had a sharp eye—this girl was truly promising.

Once she took on the role of Qing Sha, she would undoubtedly become a goddess in the eyes of fans. Normally, other artists would cling to such an image to solidify their fanbase, but here she was, willingly dismantling her own persona.

Lin Wanting was a character that would make original novel fans grind their teeth in hatred!

"Director Tang." Lu Man'er approached and greeted Tang Zhiming.

"Director Tang, this is Lu Man'er," Deputy Director Zhang introduced.

Tang Zhiming nodded and said to Lu Man'er, "You still need to work harder on your acting."

Lu Man'er nodded with a smile. "Don’t worry, Director Tang. I’ll definitely put in the effort. I heard—"

Just as Lu Man'er was about to ask about Hua Luo Chang An, Tang Zhiming cut her off and said to Deputy Director Zhang, "It’s getting late. I should head back."

"Director Tang, let me call Director Ye for you," Deputy Director Zhang offered.

"No need. Your crew is busy with the schedule. I’ll take my leave." Tang Zhiming said.

"Safe travels, Director Tang," An Wen said.

Lu Man'er followed suit. "Safe travels, Director Tang."

After Tang Zhiming left, Lu Man'er suddenly snatched An Wen’s script and threw it to the ground. An Wen’s hands were left empty as she stared at her in bewilderment. "What are you doing?"

"Stop pretending! I won’t let you off easy," Lu Man'er snapped furiously.

"Auntie Lu, what exactly won’t you let me off for?" An Wen asked, picking up the script from the ground.

The way An Wen addressed her only fueled Lu Man'er’s anger. She lunged to tear the script, but An Wen quickly tucked it behind her back and stepped away. "Auntie, aren’t you being too bold in a place like this, where cameras are everywhere? Aren’t you afraid someone will film this and post it online?"

The warning seemed to work. Lu Man'er froze in place, glaring fiercely. "Just you wait."

An Wen tapped her ear with the script and said, "The wind’s too loud—I didn’t catch that. Could you repeat it?"

Lu Man'er shot her a venomous look before storming off.

Once she was gone, An Wen unfolded the script and sighed at the creases. "How ugly!"

Ye Xiaoxing, who had just finished filming, came over and saw the state of her script. "What happened? Did Lu Man'er come to pick a fight with you again?"

"Your Highness is most perceptive!" An Wen replied.

"Did she hurt you anywhere?" Ye Xiaoxing asked.

An Wen blinked in surprise. "Wait, that auntie actually hits people?"

"Before you joined the crew, she tore up a minor actress’s script and slapped her across the face."

"Who is that actress?" An Wen asked.

"I don’t know her name either, she’s already finished filming!"

An Wen seemed somewhat comforted and said, "I always thought I must have offended Lu Man'er somehow, but it turns out she’s just an arrogant person by nature."
