Chapter 48: Four Consecutive Spikes

Chapter 48: Four Consecutive Spikes

Li Yuebin began applying eye makeup for her. The camera zoomed in on her eyes—when closed, her thick lashes trembled like two delicate fans. After a light dusting of powder, she opened her eyes, and her dewy peach-blossom gaze, now accentuated with pink, seemed to shimmer with an ethereal charm, making her look utterly captivating.

Li Yuebin leaned in closer to examine his work, prompting An Wen to ask, "Is something wrong? You can wipe it off if needed."

"No, it's just... your eyes are too beautiful. I got lost for a moment," Li Yuebin replied, his lips curling into a smile as his gaze softened.

Outside, the others watched the screen. Wu Lei remarked, "An Wen’s heart rate is only at 97, but Binbin’s already hit 120. Another spike incoming!"

Sure enough, the moment An Wen smiled, Li Yuebin’s heart rate skyrocketed to 126. Music played, signaling the completion of the 'heartbeat task.'

"Did I spike?" Li Yuebin asked sheepishly.

"Yes, it’s you!" Wu Lei shouted.

Beside him, Zuo Shaoyuan grumbled, "Do you really have to talk so much while doing her eye makeup? And you’re so slow. A makeup artist like you would’ve been fired on our set."

Xu Liangxuan laughed and tried to console him. "Don’t worry, Brother Zuo. He’ll be out soon after finishing the task."

The task was a 'wall slam.' An Wen stood by the wall while Li Yuebin, towering over her, hesitantly placed his hand against it, looking down at her.

Outside, Wu Lei observed the screen and said, "An Wen is truly unshakable. Her heart rate just dropped from 96 to 94!"

When Li Yuebin emerged, he leaned against the wall, looking utterly defeated. "She’s terrifying!" he muttered.

Wu Lei teased, "You know, when you did the wall slam, you almost spiked again, but her heart rate dropped instead."

Li Yuebin slumped into a chair, lost in contemplation.

The third to enter was Zuo Shaoyuan, cheered on by the others outside.

"You got this!"

As soon as he stepped in, Zuo Shaoyuan snatched the flower from An Wen’s hand and tossed it onto the table, leaving her stunned.

Outside, Xu Liangxuan protested, "Hey! Why’d you throw my flower?"

Zuo Shaoyuan then dampened a makeup sponge and wiped An Wen’s hand clean. Wu Lei provided commentary: "Liangxuan held her hand earlier."

Beside him, Yang Ziming remarked, "Brother Zuo is way too domineering."

After his bold display, Zuo Shaoyuan immediately faltered. Gazing at An Wen’s lashes, he muttered, "Your lashes are already so thick and long—you don’t even need falsies. Just a light coat will do."

"Okay."

Zuo Shaoyuan focused intently on brushing her lashes, then carefully examined his work.

Despite his composed exterior, his heart rate had already climbed to 120. By the time he applied her lipstick, it hit 125, and the music played once more.

Wu Lei marveled from outside, "An Wen is incredible. That’s three consecutive spikes already."

The task was for the 'prince' to whisper sweet nothings to the 'princess.'

Zuo Shaoyuan looked at An Wen and said, "Let me perform a magic trick for you."

An Wen nodded. "Alright."

"It’s done," Zuo Shaoyuan said with a smile.

An Wen blinked in confusion.

"I’ve fallen for you even more," he declared.

An Wen burst into laughter.

Zuo Shaoyuan continued applying her lipstick, admiring her perfectly defined lips—every feature on her face was exquisite.

When he finally left, Zuo Shaoyuan covered his face in embarrassment. Wu Lei patted his shoulder and said, "I know you did your best."

Yang Ziming entered with the task not of charming An Wen, but of avoiding her allure to prevent his heart rate from spiking.

As the last remaining "Heartbeat Prince," he had to preserve his final shred of dignity.

But precisely because of their words, Yang Ziming grew nervous—the moment he stepped inside and saw An Wen smile at him, his heart rate spiked instantly.

The guests outside burst into laughter.
