Chapter 61: The Lamb Is a Wolf
"Little Sister An, I didn’t expect you to be my teammate," Xia Jin said with a laugh. "Good thing I planned to save you for last."
"Same here," An Wen replied, smiling as she shook his hand again.
The two burst into laughter, easing the tension between them.
"Alright, here’s the plan—we’ll head to a corner, and you lure Brother Yuwen over so I can eliminate him," Xia Jin suggested.
"Deal!" An Wen agreed.
"Little Sister An, I’ll make sure you survive till the end!" Xia Jin declared.
"Thank you, Big Brother!" An Wen clasped her hands in gratitude.
Everything was set—until the moment they opened the door and ran straight into Chen Yuwen and his companion. Xia Jin raised an eyebrow and sighed, "Seems like my luck’s run out today!"
Chen Yuwen challenged them, "We won’t run. How about a one-on-one elimination?"
Facing Chen Yuwen alone was practically suicide.
"Fine, the girls can watch!" Xia Jin agreed.
Since they’d already crossed paths, there was no point in running—sooner or later, they’d have to fight anyway.
"Little Sister An, I’ll gift you Brother Yuwen’s name tag," Xia Jin promised.
An Wen nodded obediently. Since they’d made a gentleman’s agreement, she couldn’t interfere.
Xia Jin and Chen Yuwen circled each other, testing their movements—one advancing, the other retreating. Suddenly, Chen Yuwen launched a fierce attack. Xia Jin leaped to grab the name tag on his back, but in the same instant, both their hands reached the target. With a sharp rip!, Xia Jin’s name tag was torn off.
The announcement blared: "Xia Jin—OUT!"
Xia Jin was escorted away, leaving An Wen alone with Chen Yuwen and Zhao Ning.
A heavy silence fell over the three.
Chen Yuwen waved a hand and asked, "Alright, now which one of you is the Black Cloud Clan member?"
"Chen Yuwen, are you stupid? She’s been tailing Xia Jin this whole time and still survived. If she’s not from the Black Cloud Clan, then who is?" Zhao Ning snapped.
An Wen shielded her name tag, watching them calmly. "You say one of us might be from the Black Cloud Clan—but what about you?"
Zhao Ning scoffed. "It’s obvious. She’s already turning the suspicion on you. Your call."
"Or maybe she was fooled by Xia Jin, just like Tang Ting. Both of them were brainwashed by him." Chen Yuwen glanced at An Wen—a fair-skinned, delicate girl who looked every bit the innocent victim of Xia Jin’s schemes.
Zhao Ning was so furious it made her head hurt. She turned to Chen Yuwen. "So, are you going to eliminate me now?"
"You two fight it out. If the game doesn’t end after one of you is out, I’ll take care of the other. Either way, I win," Chen Yuwen said.
"Fine!" Zhao Ning agreed.
Zhao Ning was the only permanent female cast member on the show—experienced and strong. An Wen, on the other hand, looked like a helpless lamb that had stumbled into a pack of wolves.
But then the "lamb" seized Zhao Ning’s wrist.
Zhao Ning gasped. "She’s freakishly strong!"
An Wen suddenly released her grip and lunged for Zhao Ning’s back. Zhao Ning tried to counter, but she was too slow—her name tag was ripped off in an instant.
"Zhao Ning—OUT!"
The game wasn’t over yet.
"So it really is you!" Chen Yuwen exclaimed in shock.
An Wen smiled at him, her eyes curving into crescents, breathtakingly beautiful. "Xuanyuan Clan, it’s time to settle this."
The girl was only 15, yet she carried herself with striking elegance. Unlike the delicate, demure beauties of the time, her presence was bold and arresting—a stunning vision that demanded awe.
"Even though you're a girl, I won't go easy on you for the sake of my clan," Chen Yuwen said.
The girl smiled faintly and replied, "Then I won't hold back either!"
Chen Yuwen charged at her, and An Wen met him head-on. But before long, Chen Yuwen was knocked to the ground by An Wen, who tore off his name tag.
"Little Sister An, I didn’t expect you to be my teammate," Xia Jin said with a laugh. "Good thing I planned to save you for last."
