Chapter 32: Using Public Duty for Private Revenge
Chapter 32: Using Public Duty for Private Revenge
Ye Xiaoxing shook her head and said, "I don’t know why she’s targeting that actress, but her hostility toward you isn’t without reason."
"Please, Princess, tell me how I’ve offended Lu Man'er. I’ll reflect on my actions," An Wen replied.
Ye Xiaoxing couldn’t help but laugh. "Lu Man'er was pushed by the investor to play Qing Sha, but Director Ye refused. The investor had to settle for getting her the role of Yi Xinxin instead."
"So that’s how it is."
"The next scene is between you and her. Calm yourself and don’t let emotions interfere. Director Ye is in a bad mood today."
An Wen had already noticed. Director Ye’s scolding was especially harsh today—she wondered if the monitor screen was covered in his spit.
"I won’t let emotions affect me, but she will." Every time they had a scene together, Lu Man'er would stir up trouble.
This scene involved Yi Xinxin confronting Qing Sha over Ji Yuxi, and since there was a fight sequence, they were rigged with wires.
"Action!"
Yi Xinxin dragged Qing Sha out and shoved her hand away. "Saintess, Sister Yuxi and my brother have been betrothed since childhood. Why must you interfere between them?"
A flash of pain crossed Qing Sha’s eyes, vanishing instantly as her expression turned icy again. "I’ve never interfered with anyone. I’m only here to help you—nothing more."
"Lies! Then why did you go to the Abyssless Clan today to retrieve the Divine Herb for my brother? The Divine Herb is never given to outsiders. Why would you do that?" Yi Xinxin demanded.
"The Mo Yun Sect Dynasty is now under the control of the Black Cloud Clan. Xuan Yuan Zun is the last of the Xuan Yuan bloodline. Helping him is also for the sake of the Abyssless Clan," Qing Sha replied coolly.
"The Abyssless Clan has always remained neutral, focusing only on self-preservation. By saying this, you’ve already decided to align the clan with my brother. Saintess, how can you claim you have no ulterior motives?"
"I have no ulterior motives. You need not worry." Qing Sha turned to leave, but Yi Xinxin suddenly attacked with her sword. Qing Sha dodged, and the two engaged in combat.
The fight choreography had been carefully planned, but Lu Man'er abruptly swung her sword toward An Wen’s face. Qing Sha evaded, but instead of stopping, Lu Man'er slashed again. Qing Sha blocked with her own blade.
"Cut!" Ye Qiaofeng roared. "What the hell are you two doing? If you want to claw at each other’s faces and pull hair, do it in the bathroom after filming! Don’t waste my time here!"
"Sorry, Director. I forgot the moves just now. It won’t happen again," Lu Man'er said.
But despite her words, she swung at An Wen’s face again. If not for An Wen’s martial arts training, she might have been injured. When their swords clashed, An Wen noticed the edge of Lu Man'er’s blade—it was sharpened!
Frustrated that she couldn’t land a hit, Lu Man'er’s jealousy turned to malice. She hurled her sword at An Wen, who swung aside to dodge and knocked it away with her own weapon.
The sword flew toward a cameraman, who fell to the ground in terror. Fortunately, An Wen deflected it—otherwise, it would have struck him.
"Cut! Lu Man'er, what are you doing?" Ye Qiaofeng bellowed. "Either act properly or get out! Do you think I don’t see what you’re trying to do, slashing at An Wen’s face? Using the shoot to settle personal grudges and delaying production—do you want me to kick you and your backer out of here?"
Ye Qiaofeng seemed utterly enraged, spewing whatever came to mind. Deputy Director Zhang quickly stepped forward to pull him back, "Old Ye, what are you doing?"
"That woman—what the hell is she even doing here? How many times has she messed up now!"
