Chapter 38: Wrap-up
Chapter 38: Wrap-up
"Teacher heard you’ve taken up acting, is that true?" The homeroom teacher sat in her chair and asked.
"Yes," An Wen replied.
The teacher’s expression turned serious. "So, have you decided to become a celebrity in the future?"
"More or less."
"An Wen, with grades as good as yours, are you really willing to settle for a film academy? Those places accept students with scores as low as 300, yet you could get into a prestigious university like Tsinghua." The teacher’s voice was gentle and kind, as if trying to reason with her in this manner.
"Honestly, I’m not too keen on it, so I don’t plan to apply to a film academy," An Wen said.
"You want to be a celebrity but won’t attend a film academy? Do you mean to study at Tsinghua while being an actress?" The teacher couldn’t comprehend.
"Why not?" An Wen’s peach-blossom eyes glimmered with amusement, her long, dense lashes slightly upturned. Her skin was as fair as milk, without a single flaw on her face.
The teacher had to admit—this student was exceptionally beautiful.
"An Wen, the school has high hopes for you. You must think carefully about your future path. The entertainment industry may seem glamorous on the surface, but it’s not as rosy as you imagine. If you make the wrong choice, it’ll be too late to turn back." The teacher tried to persuade her.
An Wen knew the teacher genuinely cared for her, so she nodded obediently. "Don’t worry, teacher. I won’t neglect my studies."
"You’re intelligent, beautiful, and have a bright future ahead. You’re a student with strong convictions, so I can only offer advice. Whether you take it or not is your choice." The teacher spoke softly.
"Thank you, teacher," An Wen said politely.
"Go have your meal," the teacher replied, her voice gentle but her face betraying disappointment.
An Wen bowed and left the office.
During the exam period, boys from the regular classes would gather outside An Wen’s classroom after tests, ensuring she wasn’t swarmed by crowds.
Once exams ended, An Wen threw herself into filming with the crew. To capture scenes in the desert and snowy mountains, she left the capital with the production team, telling Chu Qichen over the phone that she was traveling.
She was certain Chu Qichen wouldn’t check entertainment news.
In truth, Chu Qichen had known about her acting pursuits long ago. Though the housekeeper and driver in the villa had promised to keep it a secret, they were still on his payroll.
Chu Qichen had no intention of interfering. Rather than letting her remain as timid and introverted as before, it was better to let her venture out and grow.
Ye Qiaofeng was a perfectionist who tolerated no flaws. His set was safe, and Chu Qichen trusted that.
Most importantly, An Wen’s homeroom teacher had confirmed her studies wouldn’t be affected.
With no downsides, why should he stop her?
The young heiress of the An family truly needed to step out of the greenhouse and toughen up.
After filming in the desert and snowy mountains, An Wen, Ye Xiaoxing, Xia Jin, and Cheng Hanwen developed a strong camaraderie. Whenever they had time and internet access, they’d play games together. Ye Xiaoxing was the worst among them, and Xia Jin took particular delight in crushing her.
Fantasy dramas involved a lot of fight scenes, and the final shoot was especially action-packed. Ye Qiaofeng, with his relentless pursuit of quality, demanded multiple retakes. By the end, everyone collapsed on the ground, utterly exhausted.
After the crew took wrap-up photos, the promotional team for Ding Qian Kun posted retouched images on Weibo. That evening, the wrap-up party was held.
At the party, everyone was having a wild time. An Wen was pestered by Xia Jin for a 1v1 match, and after thoroughly defeating him in the game, she forced him to go on stage and sing "Men Cry, It's Not a Crime." The incident was recorded and went viral on social media.
