Chapter 33: Restroom Recruitment

Chapter 33: Restroom Recruitment

Lu Man'er never expected Ye Qiaofeng to dare say such things outright. Her face paled instantly, and she glared at An Wen with resentment.

An Wen: "..." Why are you looking at me like that? Blaming me again, huh?

Is it my fault for being so beautiful that it made you commit a crime? An Wen gave an exasperated expression.

Xia Jin, who had been drinking water, choked and spat it out at her expression. Tugging at Cheng Hanwen’s sleeve, he laughed, "Little An is just too hilarious, hahaha..."

An Wen: "..." I’m suffering here, and you’re laughing? Truly, the brain of a goofball operates differently from normal people.

Ye Qiaofeng was pulled aside by Deputy Director Zhang for a long talk. When he returned, his brows were still furrowed, but his expression had softened. He addressed the two of them, "Let’s go again. Focus on acting properly! No more nonsense."

Scolded by Ye Qiaofeng, Lu Man'er didn’t dare cause any more trouble, but her performance remained shaky, resulting in several NG takes before they finally got it right.

Lu Man'er’s gaze toward An Wen grew even more venomous. After what had just happened, An Wen had mentally labeled her as a lunatic and kept her distance.

Frustrated at failing to provoke An Wen, Lu Man'er vented her anger on her assistant and other minor actors.

When An Wen went to the restroom, she heard someone crying inside—so passionately that she even tried to pee quietly, not wanting to disturb them.

As An Wen opened the stall door, the girl in the next stall did the same, her face streaked with tears, looking utterly pitiful.

While washing their hands together, Jiang Shiyu suddenly spoke in a choked voice, "An Wen, I got fired today because of you."

An Wen: "..."

"Lu Man'er took out her anger on Xiaoyu after failing to get to you. Xiaoyu blamed me for not shielding her from Lu Man'er and fired me."

An Wen: "..."

"I just graduated, and I’m even renting my apartment. Now I’ve lost my job too. Why is life so cruel to me..."

"Are you telling me this because you want me to seek justice for you?" An Wen asked.

Jiang Shiyu shook her head. "I just feel wronged."

"What’s there to feel wronged about? Out with the old, in with the new. Coincidentally, I don’t have an assistant. Fixed monthly salary of 4,000, bonuses depending on my mood. Want the job?"

Jiang Shiyu had been ready to retort at An Wen’s first sentence—You come from money, how could you understand the struggles of a broke graduate?—but An Wen’s next words left her speechless.

"W-what?" Did I hear that right?

"What’s your name? Where do you live?" An Wen asked.

"But I just got fired. Are you sure you want to hire me?" Jiang Shiyu asked in disbelief.

"Something is better than nothing," An Wen replied bluntly.

Jiang Shiyu: "..." A job interview in the restroom—this was a first!

"My name is Jiang Shiyu. I graduated from Yuncheng University of Technology..." Jiang Shiyu immediately switched to interview mode.

An Wen shook her head. "No need for that. You’re officially hired starting now."

Jiang Shiyu followed An Wen out of the restroom as if in a dream.

Mom, you might not believe this, but I just landed a job in a bathroom.

The rest of the crew watched as An Wen emerged from the restroom with a new shadow trailing behind her—fetching a chair, buying water—clearly acting as an assistant.

Jiang Shiyu proved competent, finding a chair for An Wen to sit on. Leaning back comfortably, sipping water and reviewing her script, An Wen sighed contentedly, "Having an assistant is really nice."

Lu Man'er naturally recognized Jiang Shiyu and pretended to pass by, saying to An Wen, "An Wen, why do you like using things others have thrown away so much?"

An Wen shook her finger and replied, "Auntie, you're wrong about that. It's truly foolish to mistakenly discard gold and then mock those who pick it up."
