2271 - The Man of the Impossible
“…Your entire imperial treasury couldn’t raise fifty of these.” Robin spoke with a faint smile, then turned and began walking toward his desk at an unhurried pace.
For him, the conversation was over, and it was time to contemplate that array and see what he could deduce from it.
“….” Glacion understood this from Robin’s body language as well, and perhaps he was already beginning to forget his presence, but he had no intention of giving up so easily. “May I come in?”
“Hmm? There’s not much to do here, but as you wish.” Robin replied casually, then something caught his attention on his way back. “Hmm?”
There was a golden sphere spinning slowly in the place where the Cosmic Elder’s dwelling had been…
And come to think of it, the house itself had disappeared?
“……” Robin stopped and looked toward Glacion. “Since you were watching me, do you know what happened here? There was a woman in that house—did you see where she went?”
Robin felt as if he had been inside a time gap and then suddenly came out of it.
The emergence of those symbols and their effect on the army was one thing, but destruction and changes like this occurring right beside him was truly strange and should not have happened without him noticing.
"The woman, do you mean Lady Althera?" Glacion stepped through the arrays with ease after Robin allowed him. "She is inside that sphere."
At that moment, Glacion forgot, or perhaps overlooked, something important he was holding in his hand.
Servon.
He had been holding him by his clothes as he approached the mountain.
When he knelt in the air, he opened his hand from the shock of the scene and the pressure, and Servon fell freely down the mountain, screaming all the way.
"Hmm?" Robin wondered and turned back to look at the Golden Sphere. "Althera is inside? Strange... I can sense a familiar aura from that sphere. How did this happen?"
"That sphere was formed from the Symbols of the Master Laws. Six threads from the six symbols came together and formed what you see now." Glacion had arrived behind Robin.
He kept a distance of one step behind him.
He did not dare to advance further.
"The Master Laws did that on their own? Strange..." Robin wondered, then nodded twice. "Well, I don't sense any hostility from it, and perhaps Althera has gotten a good opportunity for herself. I will know what happened when she comes out on her own."
Then he continued on his way to his small table and sat down quietly, his eyes on the board.
"Lord Robin, regarding your comment earlier about my empire..." Glacion took a few steps to stand in front of the table. "Am I to understand that Your Majesty knows who I am?"
"Glacion, roughly?" Robin spoke without looking up. "Yes, I got an idea about you and saw your picture in the report when you first joined as a Wing." Then he looked up with a smile. "It was a wise decision." He then returned to examining the panel.
"I know that now." Glacion nodded seriously. "Doesn't Your Majesty have some curiosity to know why I'm here?"
"Heh~" Robin let out a small laugh, then looked toward Glacion again. "Do you want to play? Fine, let's play." He then leaned his body back slightly and stared at Glacion's face for a moment, before bending back over the table. "So, the negotiations with the Endless Chaos Empire succeeded, good."
"....?" Glacion opened his eyes in surprise. "Did the report arrive before I came, Lord Robin?"
He had wanted Robin to ask him what happened, then start telling the story in tedious detail to prolong their conversation, but the path was cut off.
And in a very strange way, too.
“No.” Robin lifted the sides of the board as if reading a newspaper. “But I don’t need to hear a report to know what happened.” Then he chuckled. “I don’t like to brag, but I can use the First Level of Causality at a good level without activating the engravings, and I can see simple things from which I deduce simpler ones.”
Then he continued:
“The thread you have with me is strong and positive, and you have a strong thread with Holak, positive but showing aversion, which is natural given his personality. And you have a reasonable thread with that poor soul healing himself at the foot of the mountain. Besides that, you have threads connected to the entity of the Grave Empire showing strong loyalty, and two threads connected to two individuals of roughly your strength, and I’d say they are the Guardians of the Endless Chaos.”
Then he smiled and nodded toward Glacion.
“Putting all this together, it turns out the negotiations went better than necessary. Well done.”
“……” Glacion felt a chill.
This analysis through using the First Level of Causality?
What would happen if he used the Third Level?
No wonder the Archon controls the universe from the shadows…
“…Anything in service of Your Majesty pleases me, and in the future, you will hear much about me.” Glacion bowed slightly.
Then he straightened his back and continued calmly:
"Now all the major powers in the medium Sector 99 have either been destroyed or subdued. Only a few Centennial Empires remain. Once the annexation of the Wing of Eternal Chaos is announced, at least half of the remaining Centennial Empires will join. As for those who refuse to submit, I volunteer to be the spearhead against them."
Then he placed his hand over his chest.
"I, Glacion, may be a man who loves peace and tranquility, but I do not slack in serving someone I have chosen to believe in. And Your Majesty will see for yourself what I will do in the coming period to unify the sector for you. Do not trouble yourself with these trivial side matters—I am more than sufficient for them."
"Heh~ I'll rely on you then." Robin showed a smile. "Coordinate with Haros and tighten the Grave Empire's grip on the sector. I think fifty years will be enough."
Then he continued after a slight pause:
"And during that time, get in touch with Theo and Aru, find a way to help them. Unifying the sector is no longer a difficult task that requires focus on its own."
"……." Glacion stood without reaction for moments.
Shocked.
Unifying the sector is not a difficult task...
How staggering and arrogant were these words?
Even with all the Millennial Empires subdued, there were still thousands of kingdoms and smaller empires.
All of this will be accomplished within half a century?
Even ten thousand years wouldn't be enough!
But after what he had seen…
Glacion nodded.
If this man said something was possible, then it was possible.
