2375 - The Importance of Momentum
"...I lost them before I even knew what they were." Robin began slowly rubbing between his eyes, "Now the Eighth and Ninth Seals have lost half their power permanently, and I've lost 10% of my ability to use Master Laws!"
"..." Glacion remained silent for quite a while, "Do you feel that you've lost the halves forever?"
"That's what it seems." Robin nodded, "I can observe the very few cells slowly advancing, but I don't notice anything new on the two seals—either the damage has become permanent, or they're recovering so slowly that I can't perceive it. In either case, it's safe to say I won't have their help anytime soon."
"This really..." Glacion looked down, "Perhaps you could pull off what you did with the Lady and Lord Hedrick again?"
Glacion was nearly in tears as he asked, his chance of obtaining any Master Law or even becoming Unbound was fading before his very eyes!
"Should I undo what I did with the two of them?" Robin looked ahead for a while, then shook his head, "If time turned back and I knew what I know now, I would still choose the same two people to lift the limits from, for I need expansion and defense on two great fronts—one toward Interas and the second toward Qarun, and I am not free to jump between the two day and night. I had to have two sharp blades."
Then he waved a few times, "Alright, forget it—it's a necessary investment, no need to bother myself with it." Then he continued at a calmer pace, "But I will not free another one except in the utmost necessity."
"....." Glacion's eyelids twitched as if he were on the verge of paralysis.
"As far as I see," Robin began tapping his thigh with his free hand, "candidacy is the sharing of Golden Momentum in one of the Seals with an ordinary human, giving them a greater chance to use and study the Master Laws. I do not know whether Althera will consume from her designated Seal when she grows stronger and begins using Balance, but this will happen with high probability, for I feel slight vibrations now in that Seal, and Althera is trying hard to study the First Level of Balance. So what comes after that?"
"I was planning to nominate all my sons, but what would happen if they all started using my Seals and I found myself with no power left to use?" Then he shook his head, "Whether it's candidacy or liberation, I'll stop everything until I research this matter more deeply... I'm searching for one specific thing."
"What is it, my Lord?" Glacion asked with obvious hope.
"The way to acquire more Seals, of course." Robin spoke seriously, "They enable me to use the Master Laws freely, elevate my status above humanity, let me create people with the strength of Hedrick and Renara, let me create other users of the Master Laws—and this is what I've only just discovered!"
Then he narrowed his eyes, "There must be a way to obtain more of them!!"
"...." Glacion swallowed his saliva. The light in Robin's eyes wasn't a love of knowledge or curiosity—it was pure greed!
"Hmm..." Robin stared at the horizon, "I wonder if I could also draw golden momentum from one of the All-seeing God's Seals."
"Come to think of it..." Glacion finally found something to say without appearing stunned, "Perhaps that's why the All-seeing Lord always waited long periods between candidates, sending only one at a time?"
"It's natural for him to try to pick perfect candidates as long as he keeps their imprints and wastes his own momentum on them," Robin waved his hand gently. "In truth, although I hadn't thought about it before, I'm satisfied with Althera as a candidate. She was a mid-level Monarch over a Fundamental Law even though she doesn't descend from any Behemoth Galaxy—that shows her talent. Also, the Cosmic Elder clearly favored her among the rest of the academy heads... She's a good girl, and she'll be obedient. I don't want her to go off and tear down empires from scratch like that madman did with us."
Then he narrowed his eyes for a moment. "But I'm not sure about him sending only one and waiting for him to die..."
"Did he send more than once?!" Glacion asked.
"According to his words, there are people who succeeded in the tasks he assigned them, but they succeeded in a bad way he didn't like, so he ignored them. He didn't say he absolved them of anything or took anything from them—he just ignored them. I don't know whether they still carry the Golden Honor or not, and of course there's also Sevar..." Robin muttered. "From what I see, every candidate is a burden on their master... Honestly, I won't understand whether they all still retain the Golden Honor to this day, but I hope he withdrew it somehow, otherwise dealing with them will be even more exhausting."
He then continued, "Yes, Master Laws can be used without support from the Seals, but the usage is weaker, the rest periods are longer, and the absorption time is longer. I would not fear fighting a Master Law user of a higher level than mine if he lacks golden momentum to back his attacks!"
"Does that include the Cosmic Elder?" Glacion asked in surprise.
"I saw the Cosmic Elder flee from a handful of Adult Space Beasts with my own eyes during his rounds beyond the Shell." Robin waved his hand, "After he rests and regains control over his body, he can kill hundreds of them with a single wave, but once he reaches that state where his human essence is affected, even a cat could attack him."
Then he waved again, "Between a sixth-degree user who relies on himself like the Cosmic Elder, and a sixth-degree user who has the Golden Honor granting him access to golden momentum like Sevar, Sevar would win every time. All he has to do is evade the Cosmic Elder's first few attacks, and then he would toy with him."
"But..." Glacion noticed something, "The Archon, if he still had the Golden Honor as you call it, he would only have access to momentum from a single Seal. Would that be enough for him to defeat the Cosmic Elder in a life-or-death battle?"
Then he raised his eyes toward Robin, "...While you have ten?"
"…." Robin showed a big smile.
