2437 - The Situation
Middle Sector 118—
*Clank* *Clank*
Standing in space… Kiryān the Conqueror watched the scene before him with weary eyes.
At this moment, his forces were attacking a planet… yes, a single planet.
Kiryān's forces were not many, only three of his disciples along with about 100 fleets, while the enemies were significantly more numerous.
At least 800 fleets were hovering around the planet, and there were four Law Dominators fighting Kiryān's disciples. Those four would retreat after every exchange, but they would not allow Kiryān's disciples to rest or destroy their fleets.
Just watching for ten minutes would make anyone clearly see that this battle was heading toward a near retreat.
The attacking force was small and exerting effort it did not possess, while their numbers continuously decreased due to the massive numerical disparity. Meanwhile, the defending force was larger but did not want to increase their losses by fighting at full strength, contenting themselves with passive defense… It was a battle where the one with the long breath would win—the one who could endure until finding a gap, and who had the greater capacity to bear losses.
And unfortunately… no one possessed either of those two capacities.
Kiryān's assignment to open the Sectors toward the west began smoothly in the first years, during which he was able to conquer Middle Sector 116 and destroy all the powers that rejected any kind of negotiation, while Glacion came and negotiated with the rest over the terms, and matters proceeded easily…
Then he headed toward Middle Sector 117 after leaving a very small portion of his forces in Middle Sector 116. There, he was able to fight on all fronts of the Sector until he killed a number of the Sector's leaders and caused the rest to flee. Internal betrayals also occurred among them, and several powers surrendered, while others raised the White Flag before any fighting. Then Glacion and the Shadow Swords came to negotiate and calm the situation…
But Middle Sector 118 was different… He invaded it directly before Qarun's declaration.
The resistance he encountered in Middle Sector 118 exploded exponentially after the powers united against him. All the Millennial and Centennial Empires attacked him with strange ferocity and clear external support.
Kiryān was forced to retreat somewhat from his plans and settled in a solar system, defending it and launching attacks from it… But soon news reached him that Sectors 116 and 117 were no longer stable. An enormous number of revolutions had risen in them, to the point that even the small clans and planetary kingdoms sent forces against the garrison!
So he was forced to split his army in two and send half back to help calm the Sectors, otherwise they would head toward Sector 115 and attack his very home.
As for the other half of his forces, they spread throughout Sector 118 entirely, trying to stab the allied powers in their own homelands and force them to recall their armies before a massive unified army could form. For Kiryān, dismantling his army in exchange for dismantling the armies of others was far better than one great decisive battle… because he knew he would lose.
If such a battle occurred and Kiryān was besieged by more than ten thousand Fleets, external support would certainly come from Law Dominators to besiege him and wipe out everything he possessed in one blow. They would not let such an opportunity pass… No, fragmented and isolated wars were better.
And today was one of those wars…
He had come with part of his army to strike the capital of one of the Millennial Empires, only to find three Law Dominators and 800 Fleets on guard!
If he requested support from the rest of his forces, then support would come for his enemies.
If he moved personally, the hidden people would come out to engage him.
And if he retreated, it would be said that the Behemoth, the Conqueror, retreated and was defeated, which would raise the morale of the Sector's inhabitants.
This left him with no choice but to stand here and watch… watching his fleets fall at a steady pace.
*Hmmm*
"……" Kiryān cast a glance toward a specific direction beside him.
There, space quietly split open and ten people emerged, each with a unique, powerful aura.
Immediately, Kiryān frowned heavily — they were all Law Dominators, and not a single one of them was ordinary!
But he recognized them. "What brought the Leaders of the Stellar Academies to Sector 118?" Then he smiled toward the three people standing in the middle. "And you gentlemen… you've come a long way."
Those three were from the Council of Thrones — three of Qarun's disciples.
"Enough bloodshed, Kiryān. Be sensible and turn back from following the devil." The middle one spoke with his head raised. "Even if you are a Behemoth, you must understand that we will not allow you to do as you please. The attempt to destroy the universe will not succeed, and we, its sons who watch over its protection, are present here."
"Hah?" Kiryān was surprised by the words and began searching his surroundings, and immediately he smiled…
He found people hiding on nearby planets carrying recording equipment, and there was a high probability it was a live broadcast.
Those three came to take a shot at his back.
"The men who watch over protecting the universe, yes, yes…" Kiryān nodded twice, "A quarter of this Sector, 118, has already fallen under the control of a massive Plague Focus. In the Sector there are more than 60 blue plague individuals, each one of them destroys a solar system daily. Why don't you protect this?"
"Isn't your Lord the one who plants all those Plague Foci?!" another disciple of Qarun shouted.
"My Lord who hasn't even completed a thousand years of age is the reason for the Plague Foci that have been devouring the universe for millions of years?" Kiryān laughed, then pointed toward the Academy Masters: "Every one of these knows who truly plants the Foci for you, who strengthens them, brings them food, and provides them protection until they become stronger. Everyone knows about the deal between the Hand of Concealment and the Council of Thrones, but baseness prevents them from saying anything." Then he shouted, "If there's a man among you, let him call me a liar!"
"….." The Academy Masters of the Stellar Academies said nothing, they only swallowed their saliva.
"Enough!" Qarun's third disciple found that the situation was not going as he wished. "Kiryān, take your usurping army and leave Middle Sector 118 today, or the Council of Thrones will purge you… We can no longer let you spread the poison of your hidden Lord!"
"….." Kiryān began looking around and spread his soul sense farther.
There were signs that he was surrounded by multiple layers, and even without the siege, these three were extremely strong and could keep him occupied on their own, while the rest would destroy his army with ease.
"…." Kiryān was silent for a moment, then waved for his army to retreat, and he too turned away. "…Remember this day, Council of Thrones."
…The situation was humiliating, but at least he had escaped this pointless standoff.
