2360 - The Mission
“…I was drawing over a flowing river.”
Clack
On the other side, Marlik drew his sword, and then his voice was heard, “Tsk~ It’s the elegant boy.”
He then took a few steps to stand between Sevar and the Golden Ring. “What do you want?”
“..?” Qarun furrowed his brows tightly. “Sevar, throw your dog left or right before it’s too late.”
“Tsk.” Marlik spat to the side. “His Excellency the Archon is not free for you, you weasel. I advise you to—”
“Enough, Marlik.” From behind him, Sevar opened his mouth and waved calmly. “Big Brother doesn’t contact me every day, nor does he tell me I was right every hour. This seems interesting.”
“…..” Marlik shot a glance backward.
A month had passed, and his master’s external injuries had healed, but he knew he was still suffering. He didn’t want the discussion between him and Qarun to drag on, allowing Qarun to learn of his injury and use that information against him.
Again, he feigned ignorance, belittled Qarun, and pointed at him. “Under my master’s orders, I will step aside. But don’t let me see this face too often. Say what you have to say and disappear.” Then he began to step back.
“……?” Qarun watched him move aside with a mix of surprise, contempt, and a touch of envy. For although he knew he was stronger than Marlik, he didn’t have a follower of equal strength.
He then shook his head and turned back to look at Sevar, soon expressing surprise: "...You're injured?"
"...?!" Marlik's body jolted as he looked back, his eyes brimming with murderous intent.
"Hehe~" But Sevar was noticeably calm, "Your causality has become this strong? You seem to be approaching the Sixth Level."
At this moment, Qarun and Sevar could only see each other as mere shadows. The Golden Ring was not a gate but something entirely different—a tool used by causality users to strike the threads of cosmic laws and force them to transmit sounds, along with a limited amount of other information such as body shape during conversation.
The fact that Qarun knew such information during a voice connection meant that allowing him to make a causality connection in itself was enough to reveal the area and the state of those within it—an area where a Sixth Level causality user lived!
"It's only a matter of time; it always has been." Qarun raised his head slightly, "And you know the reason for my delay."
"Are you going to say it's because of your focus on the Other Two Master Laws?" Sevar continued smiling, "That old excuse to justify why I've become stronger than you, even though you were sent as a Candidate millions of years before me—are you still using it?"
"Excuse me?" Qarun was clearly annoyed. "Do you have an additional clear Master Law to understand how difficult this is?"
"I don't need one. Look at yourself—you focused on them, but I surpassed you." Sevar shrugged.
"Can you even do a quarter of what I can? Can you imagine the possibilities open before me?" Qarun narrowed his eyes, with the expression of someone speaking to an ignorant fool.
"Will all that help you in a direct confrontation? I'm still stronger." Sevar chuckled.
"Heh~" Qarun showed a small smile. "Regardless of the Third, I have Causality at the peak of the Fifth Level, and Creation also at the Fifth Level. Do you really think you're stronger?"
"I'd crush you like an insect." Sevar flashed a wide grin.
"..." Qarun displayed a similar smile. "I wonder how big that insect that left you in this state was?"
"..." The smile vanished from Sevar's face. "What do you want, Qarun? You said I was right about the All-Knowing God. What's new about that?"
"Did you see them?" Qarun asked directly.
"...Yes." Sevar raised his head higher, then hesitated for a moment before answering. "The Unbound."
"What will you do about them?" Qarun asked calmly.
"I have my own plans." Sevar showed a polite smile.
"What is it, Sevar?" Qarun repeated the question. "I don't want what we're about to do to conflict, nor do I want us to waste our time using Causality on each other."
"Oh? Are you finally planning to move seriously against The All-seeing God and his Candidate?" Sevar showed slight surprise. "Have you finally grown a pair and decided to move forward?"
"..." Qarun glared in annoyance. "Let's just say I have." Then, after a brief pause, he continued, "I did everything for his sake, and in the end, he brought in another Candidate. I ignored the Candidate and waited longer, but he went and gave him Unbound... I couldn't bear this kind of injustice and stay silent about it."
"Heh." Sevar laughed.
"...?" Qarun furrowed his brows deeply. "What's so funny? Did you remember your childhood?"
"..." Sevar's laughter gradually faded. "What's funny is that I told you before why he wasn't contacting you and advised you to move on, but you thought I was lying to you or wishing you harm."
"Your explanation was trivial and weightless." Qarun replied quickly.
"Really? Aren't you just a selfish person who does whatever he pleases and then pins it on the All-Knowing God?" Sevar laughed. "You love power, so you seize it and say it's for him. You love money, so you hoard it and say it's for him. You hate getting your hands dirty and despise direct combat, so you ignite conspiracies and filthy internal battles, all while claiming it's to achieve the best results for the All-Knowing God."
He chuckled, "Your first mission was to lead a certain Stellar Academy. That particular academy was in a sector being devoured by the Plague, and the academy was headed by a good director who did everything he could but couldn't stop them due to the Old Sterile System. Also, in the same sector, there was a Centennial Empire subordinate to one of the patrons, the Peers of the All-Knowing God."
He pointed at him, "According to the All-Knowing God's usual style, you were supposed to prove your administrative skills and wisdom, take over the academy legitimately, help the director clean up the sector, then use your new position to eliminate that Centennial Empire. Say they were supporting the Plague, for instance. It would have been easy for you and would have been a good explanation for the Plague's spread in that sector."
"Hehe, but you killed the entire Board of Directors with your tricks, then sat at the helm of the academy and started gathering money, hahaha. And that empire became the foundation of the Behemoth Galaxy, hahahaha."
