2417 - The Den of Evil
Middle Sector 666—
*Whoosh*
A strange-looking black vehicle was making its way through space with astonishing sluggishness.
The vehicle was clearly a relic from a bygone era, barely moving, barely managing to get from point A to point B... but for those arriving at this place, it was the best they could hope for.
In the cockpit of that vehicle... Caesar stood with his arms crossed, staring through the cracked window with an expression of obvious irritation.
Finally, his annoyance seemed to reach its breaking point. "How much longer are we going to keep moving in this piece of junk? How long has it been since the journey started? Almost a year?!"
"Krk krk krk," the ship's captain let out a strange laugh.
He wore black clothes that gave off a foul odor visible from a distance, his face covered in patches of varying colors, and his mouth completely toothless... it was hard to tell whether he was human or something else.
That person cast a sidelong glance at Caesar while laughing. "Didn't you ask about this place before coming here, young man? Just one year as a ride from the Great Space Gate to the galaxy is considered excellent time—this is the best vehicle in the Sector!"
"Our cargo transport vehicles are better." Caesar narrowed his brows. He truly wasn't exaggerating—the vehicle's speed was pitiful, but given its condition, if they went any faster, it would fall apart.
"I don't know where you're from, but you're in the Sector of Death and Evil now—Sector 666," the captain spoke in a heavy tone. "No one builds vehicles here, and few have the courage to bring vehicles from neighboring sectors to work in delivery. Only a man of great valor like me could take such a risk."
"Yes, the valor is quite evident." Caesar snorted.
"Are you mocking me?" The captain sensed Caesar's tone, and it was clear it had provoked him. "Ever since that scoundrel Mortex did his deed and transformed an entire normal galaxy into what is known as the Fortress of Death, the whole sector has been in danger. All the capable ones left, and those who remained were the weak and poor citizens who don't even know what befell the Necrofortress Galaxy."
Then he continued, "Since that point, only two types of people come to this sector..." He raised one finger. "The first type is those like you—those seeking death. They've suffered a shock in their lives and come like a girl with daddy issues wanting to commit suicide. They want to head to the outer planets of the galaxy and test themselves, hoping to become generals, or hoard one of the infinite treasures there!"
Then he raised a second finger, "The second type are the devils of mankind and the true dwellers of the underworld." Then the man, whose eyes were already narrow, squinted them further, "Here lies the origin of the curses beneath the surface, here lies the origin of all evil, here you will find everything you can imagine." Then he waved his hand, "That dead nobody, the Cursed Darvion, do you know him? He began his journey from here, learning the fundamentals of curses and the ways of the underworld at the hands of the Sector's demons, and experimenting on the Sector's citizens... After that, he took a piece of cursed knowledge and went off to bully the weak-hearted out there with it."
"Oh, to that extent?" Caesar raised his eyebrows, though of course he already knew this information.
"You may not know this, but Darvion was an apprentice to one of the secret sects here, but he broke the rules and left." Then he turned to Caesar, "There are many Darvions scattered around out there... some of them are stronger than him." Then he spoke in a heavier tone, "This is a place where the Stellar Academies never dared to set foot, and the Cosmic Academies will never dare to come."
Then he smiled, "Here is Middle Sector 666... where no one dares to build a Space Gate or move a vehicle around. Here, the sky is forbidden, and beneath the earth, blood flows instead of rivers. Any underground sect among those surrounding the Necrofortress Galaxy can easily wipe out several Behemoths along with their galaxies, believe me!"
"...." Caesar gave him a sidelong glance, "What do you eat to have breath like that?"
"Tsk, you neither understand nor listen," the Captain turned to look ahead again, "You're summoning destruction and death upon yourself—a drawn-out, gruesome death—and yet you fill my head with your nonsense day and night. Why are you so eager for it?"
"...." Caesar raised his head slightly, "The place summoned me, not the other way around."
"Heh, they all say that." The Captain laughed again, "Let me guess—fate called out to you and told you you'd become an invincible Undead general?"
"...Almost." Caesar didn't continue the conversation, "For some reason, I have a connection to that place, and I'll know it when I arrive."
"That's your life~" The Captain shrugged, "But I warn you... stay on the scattered planets around the galaxy for a few centuries first, then head toward the outer Shell moons of the galaxy, then the outer ring planets. Only then might you have a chance."
“…” Caesar rubbed his forehead for a few moments. “I’ll take your advice into consideration… How long until we reach the Necrofortress Galaxy?”
“In truth, we’ve almost arrived. Sit for a bit and recite your prayers to whatever it is you worship, hehe—you’ll need every prayer you can get, hehehe.”
“…” Caesar let out a sigh, then went to sit in the back.
The vehicle wasn’t very large, but at least there was a compartment where he could sleep, a filthy toilet, and a couch.
He sat down, closed his eyes, and exhaled, “Hooo~” Then he spoke in a voice only he could hear: “The vehicle’s commander says I’m close… What’s the next step I take now to get rid of you, Mortix?”
*Hooo* The place suddenly turned cold, and Caesar’s skin stiffened. Then he opened his eyes, revealing two dead, milky-white pupils. “Come to the heart of the galaxy, of course… Ha… hahahaha.”
