2429 - Step to the Front
Sector 750 Middle—Sky-Avoidance Cave
*Whoosh* The transmission ended and Qarun's image disappeared.
"……"
*Crack* Marlik cracked his neck to the left, then began moving toward the exit. "Please excuse me, I'm going to kill him. I won't be long."
"Wait." Sevar waved twice. "Regardless of the fact that you can't, why do you want to kill him?"
"Did you not hear what he said about you, Boss? He spoke your name!!" Marlik lost his composure but didn't raise his voice. "That dandy boy deserves to die, and I'm confident I can kill him!!"
"What did he say? That I'm bad?" Sevar waved. "Nothing new. Calm down a little."
"…." Marlik gritted his teeth and stopped.
"The speech doesn't target me, but he's using me as an example for comparison." Sevar chuckled. "He's telling people that Robin Burton is as bad as me or worse… Isn't that nice?"
"No, it's not nice. Your name shouldn't spread and move on people's tongues like this." Marlik furrowed his brow hard.
Sevar's name isn't public knowledge, but it's not exclusive to the universe's elite either. The Syndicate allowed its spread among anyone of use in the universe—any known General, any ruler with weight, any researcher with capability… anyone of use knows Sevar's name.
Why? To track what is being said about Sevar among those ranks, because Sevar activates a certain ability that lets him know the location and intent of whoever speaks his name, making it easier for him to trace the trail of the other candidates sent by the All-seeing God to kill him. Indeed, he used it before to kill two of them.
Now that the name has spread in this manner and been repeated more than once on Qarun's tongue, that ability has been completely nullified—he will not track the coordinates of people talking about him all at once. Sevar's mystique and intimidation have also greatly diminished after being spoken of in this way.
Then Marlik raised his voice as he thought all of this, "That dandy villain didn't even bother to put his name on the honorable list—if he listed what he's committed, he'd surpass everyone!!"
Sevar began tapping his thigh, "...This is Qarun's response because I refused to cooperate with him or coordinate any moves. He strikes at my ability to monitor my enemies, belittled me by spreading a reputation that I work on someone else's behalf instead of my own, and made me look like a fool playing along with Robin Burton."
Sevar turned toward Marlik with a small smile, "Now our battles against Robin Burton and our clashes with the Shadow Swords have become a weightless joke in everyone's eyes. Instead of fear and anticipation, Qarun turned them into a game among brothers and an act."
"Let me kill him!!" Marlik took a step forward.
"Tsk~" Sevar shook his head, "Attacking Qarun will only confirm his words, and it will look like we're trying to silence him so he doesn't spread the truth to the people... Besides, it wouldn't do any good—you wouldn't be able to kill him, and I need some time to return to my full strength. Even if I did recover... I don't want to fight a Causality user at the peak of the Fifth Level. Things are accelerating, and if I sustain a serious injury, no one knows whether I'll heal in time."
"So we just let him do as he pleases?!" Marlik pointed toward the Disk.
"....." Sevar stared at the Disk as well, "Me and Robin are brothers and our fights are all an act, huh?" Then he nodded twice, "Then you fight him instead."
He then gestured toward Marlik with his head, "Ease off on any confrontations with Burton—only focus on reinforcing Middle Sector 89, and keep the upper side open from Sector 118's direction so he can move freely as he wishes. We won't interfere in anything concerning him except Middle Sector 89, and let Qarun handle his own affair as long as he's the protector of the flame."
"....." Marlik furrowed his brows slightly, "Do you think Robin Burton will reach him?"
Qarun resides in Medium Sector 250 alongside the Council of Thrones, and there is no major power between Sectors 118 and 250 Medium... meaning that if Robin Burton and his army continued their march in that direction, they would eventually reach him.
Perhaps after a thousand years... or after a hundred thousand... but they would eventually reach him as long as he has two individuals exempted from the boundaries!
"Whether he reaches him or not, that doesn't concern us now." Sevar waved his hand, "Qarun has taken a step forward and decided to play, let him play. Perhaps he thinks Robin Burton is an easy opponent and that I'm being lenient with him by choice, let him try."
Then he shrugged, "His words won't affect us in any way, we're an Underground Organization anyway. Continue collecting resources and taxes as usual, and focus on developing and training the army. It's clear that the Era of Scattered Gangs is no longer suitable against that person who loves armies and direct warfare."
Then he chuckled, "Heh~ I look forward to seeing Robin Burton's reaction to this clip. He took a big hit today... I want to see how he'll clear his name."
Medium Sector 99—Stellar Dawn Cosmic Academy
"........."
The Sons of the Cosmic Elder remained staring at the Disk, silent, shocked... some of them crying.
"The Father has—!!"
"Silence!" Their big brother raised his voice before anyone could say anything, then muttered, "Silence... we will not speak of what we do not know."
"What exactly do we not know!?" One of the younger youths pointed angrily toward the Disk, "How can we interpret what was said?"
"..." The Big Brother maintained his silence, but his body was trembling. "...We interpret it with the words of Our Father, who has not ceased to sing the praises of the Spiritual Father for a single day since we were born... Respect your father's mind and do not let strangers tamper with your opinions!"
Then he stood up, "The Father has said repeatedly that the Spiritual Father is the reason for our existence in this life. He is our second father, just like Father Zolan. We must listen to him first!!"
Then he began to look around at the horizon, toward other groups watching the recording, "Disperse and gather all our brothers. No one is allowed to say a word before we see what we must do together!!"
"Yes."
"..." Timari, watching from afar, let out a long sigh, relieved and afraid at the same time.
Relieved because the Sons of the Cosmic Elder had inherited his composure...
And afraid of how Robin Burton and His Empires would react to what happened today.
Hell is coming!!
