2406 - Race Against Time
Soul Society—The Grand Hall
“…I am Hedrick, I am the Sword of Lord Robin.”
“……”
“…Is it…?”
“The Cursed Behemoth has been slain…”
“The Cursed Behemoth has been slain!!!”
“AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!”
“AHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!”
*Clamor* *Clamor*
The Grand Hall, the place where embodiments of the wealthy from all sectors and planets of the Universe gather to network and hear major announcements only, were watching Lord Hedrick's final battle live together. And this time, not on their personal windows, but through a massive screen broadcasting to everyone, powered by the Soul Society itself.
The broadcast may have been free, but staying connected to the Grand Hall was not… The grueling battles over the past month, especially today's final battle, had earned the Soul Society an enormous amount of money!
But for the users, it was worth every Energy Pearl and every Soul Emerald!
“Haha, I still can't believe it hahahahahahaha!!”
Hundreds of millions of people were watching the broadcast, each with their own life, experiences, and goals, but after Hedrick's announcement, the reactions were remarkably similar.
Most of the attendees erupted between laughter and shouts of excitement, some began jumping for joy.
Yesterday they rejoiced at Zargul's escape and the end of the era of dominance over the Talismans at last. A staggering number of experts and hidden powers, who had been in hiding from Zargul's malice, came out rejoicing and celebrating a new era. But the reactions were nowhere near that.
Not only because of the fierce battle and Hedrick's overwhelming strength... but because everyone knows how vile the deeds of the Cursed Behemoth were, affecting everyone. Everyone knows about the assaults, the sacrifices, and the demonic dealings that took place in that Galaxy to gain power and influence, especially on Planet Barstein, located in the First Ring.
Everyone knows about the kidnappings, the disappearances, and the unparalleled corruption, but no one could do anything except wish for his demise one day... No one wanted to do anything.
But now that he has been killed, everyone rejoices.
Another number of those present were in a completely different state. Some of them fell to the ground and burst into loud sobbing, while others stared at the screen in shock... These were the ones who were truly harmed by Darvion in one way or another—the fugitive victims, the people who were actually trying to stop him with their limited abilities.
Seeing him killed and vanishing before their eyes feels like a beautiful dream... a strange dream they would prefer to remain in forever.
As for the smaller and more perceptive group among them, they watched the scenes with slightly furrowed brows and serious expressions...
Hedrick declared himself a sword for Lord Robin, that he was the Truth Chosen, the genius famous as Human, the owner of the Cosmic Academies that had spread with speed and power.
And now... he has someone of this strength working under his command?
Someone who can kill a Behemoth within his own galaxy?!
And there was one detail that escaped most, but not the leaders of the people...
Hedrick—is he the owner of the new galaxy?
Renara also disappeared after Zargul's withdrawal; perhaps she too is polishing the Sorcery Galaxy...
The two are indeed insanely strong, but they will polish ready-made galaxies? Has it ever happened before that someone polished a fully grown galaxy?!
And also... the Lord Human is gifting his followers galaxies now??
No one will miss Zargul and Darvion, without a doubt, but...
Their fall today announces the rise of a formidable Fifth Power in the Universe.
No one yet knows a confirmed name for it, or a location that can be named... but that power is Lord Robin and all his followers and his countless, unknown riches.
"Tsk." One of those present spat when he saw Hedrick begin attacking the fleets of Darvion the Accursed to subdue them, then his projection vanished from the place—
Outside—Middle Sector 93
One of them opened his eyes, "Damn!" He struck the armrest, then lunged forward in a motion that nearly cost him his seat.
"..." Another one opened his eyes, "This is bad."
That room contained no fewer than thirty people, most of whom began opening their eyes one after another.
But not all of them—
"Is there anything new in the broadcast battles? You know I haven't planted a single Soul Society seedling, guys—don't leave me hanging."
"Hedrick killed Darvion and declared himself a follower of Robin Burton."
"....?"
"What do we do now? Do we continue on our path?"
One of them opened his eyes as well, then rose quietly and began to stroll until he stood before a giant window, calmly gazing at the scene.
They were in space—
Within his line of sight were hundreds of thousands of vessels, and judging by the endless scene, it was clear there were even more...
That person spoke after a moment of deliberation, "Have any new orders come from the Butcher?"
"No, he and the Archon have been missing for a while with no trace of them... Most likely both are in the Sky-Avoidance Cave."
"The Butcher being in the cave for weeks bodes ill.."
"And does our situation herald anything else?" One of them stood and pointed toward the window, "We are supposed to be the Syndicate's support for the Sorcerer Behemoth, we are supposed to be a symbol of the Syndicate's power and dominance, five thousand fleets gathered from all forces as we advance toward Middle Sector 98, advancing with a splendor and slowness that terrifies enemies for ten years..."
Then he raised his voice, "Who are we supposed to terrify now?!"
"Tsk... Zargul, the bastard himself, fled."
"At the current pace of events, by the time we reach Middle Sector 98 in ten years, there will be a new Behemoth, and he will have already chosen his sons' ranks too! We have become a laughingstock to the entire universe!!"
"Enough!" The man at the giant window waved forcefully and turned toward the gathering, his halo as an Intermediate Monarch erupting, "We have orders, we will continue to execute them until others arrive. Have you forgotten whom we serve? The Archon is a user of the Sixth Level of Causality and knows everything. What, do you think Robin Burton is unaffected by Causality or something like that?"
"...You're right." Everyone nodded.
"Listen to me." Their leader raised his voice when he found a good reaction, "We will continue our path, and in ten years you will find all enemies crumbling at our feet without us even realizing it. That is what it means to follow a Causality user!"
*Clatter*
"Hmm?" That person turned back to look toward the window when he sensed disturbances at the vanguard.
*BOOM* *BOOM*
The vanguard vehicles began exploding one after another.
"What is going on?!" shouted the Squadron Admiral. "Let someone show me what is happening at the vanguard!"
*ZOOOM*
At that moment, a screen appeared before the Admiral and the rest of the squadron leaders.
On it was a person with a long white beard, wearing a loose blue-and-white robe, with a shawl and an agal atop his head, and standing behind him were 40 individuals of similar appearance.
There were no squadrons, no support—only that man and his few followers.
"...Arkail the Temporal?!" the Admiral muttered in shock.
"You shall not pass through here!!"
Arkail cried out with weary eyes.
